Columbarium Report
St. Matthew's Columbarium is located in the south transept of the nave on the back wall of The Chapel of the Holy Family. A columbarium is a place for urns containing ashes of those who are cremated at the time of death. The columbarium was built in 1987 by Jim Davis. It has 74 niches which hold 2-4 urns each. At present, there are 94 spaces owned by 43 families. There have been 31 committals. St. Matthew's Columbarium may be used by parishioners of St. Matthew's and their immediate families. Application must be made. Spaces cost $100 a person and bronze urns, which meet the size requirement, cost $185 each. The urn may be purchased when application is made and stored in space until time of need. Upon death and cremation, a burial service is done in the church. Inurned ashes are placed in the Columbarium at the time of The Committal during the Burial Service from The Book of Common Prayer. After committal, a plaque noting niche location, deceased name, birth, and death date after, is installed on the Columbarium. If you have questions or interest in St. Matthew's Columbarium, please call the Church Office at 665-0703
